 Trigger Guard is owned and operated by Mike Yoder, who is a life long resident of Wellington and Sumner County, Kansas.  Married with four children and 4 grandchildren, Mike has over 40 years experience as a Police/SWAT firearms instructor and is an accomplished competitive shooter. 

Joined the Sumner County Sheriff's Department in May of 1978 working as a jailer and Reserve Deputy.  In October of 1979 I left the Sheriff's Department and went to work for the Wellington Police Department as a Patrolman.

Graduated the 62nd Basic Class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center
( KLETC ) in 1980 and in 1981 returned to KLETC to certify as a NRA Police Firearms Instructor.  I was then assigned to the position of firearms instructor for the Wellington Police Department.
 

In 1983  returned to work for the Sumner County Sheriff Department, where I was assigned as Range Master and Firearms Instructor.
 

In 1997  started the Sumner County SWAT Team. Since the beginning of this team I have been the SWAT Commander and Firearms Instructor. The team has expanded and is now the Southern Kansas SWAT Team, a Multi-jurisdictional team with members from several departments in Sumner and Cowley counties. I retired as the SWAT Commander in 2017 but still teach handgun and rifle skills to our team and Officers in surrounding counties.

During my 40+ years in Law Enforcement, I have served for seven different Sheriff's and was Undersheriff for three of them.  I retired March 31, 2016 as the Operations Captain in charge of the patrol and training divisions for the Sheriff's Office.

In 2009,  started shooting competitively and currently hold the rank of Master Class Shooter in the Glock Sport Shooting Foundation
